Friends,
I don’t know about you, but I am so done with Donald Trump.
First, he called immigrants from Mexico “drug dealers” and “rapists” in his announcement speech.
Then he proposed that Mexico pay for a wall along the US-Mexico border and called for the mass deportation of illegal immigrants.
Finally, on Tuesday, Donald Trump proposed the return of a concept by Eisenhower called “Operation Wetback.”
Let’s be clear, Donald Trump has never been a friend to the Latino community here in the United States; however, this absurd proposal is enough.
Setting aside the offensive name, this “operation” was an absolute disaster. Hundreds of thousands of Latinos were torn from their homes regardless of their immigration status. Thousands of people and their families were thrown out of the United States because of the color of their skin.
There were rampant reports of abuse against those being deported.
The “operation” was inhumane, ineffective, and irresponsible.
