Daily Breeze Endorses Nanette Barragán in CA-44 Primary

SAN PEDRO, CA – Today, the Daily Breeze announced their support for Nanette Barragán in California’s 44th District. Barragán received the endorsement of the LA Timesand also has been endorsed by LCV, the Sierra Club, EMILY’s List, BOLD PAC (the political organization of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus), and the Feminist Majority PAC.

From the Daily Breeze editorial:

On Barragán, they said she had “an impressive resume . . . who once interned for a California Supreme Court justice.”

Hall is backed by gaming interests and oil companies, to which he has been a friend, opposing legislation that would have created tougher environmental rules near oil sites.”

There are questions about whether Hall is a sincere public servant or acts out of political expediency.”

Barragán, the daughter of immigrants from Mexico, grew up in Carson and the surrounding areas where she attended Stephen M. White Middle School, learned to swim at Carson Pool, and studied at the Carson Library. She worked her way through UCLA and law school at USC before becoming a long-time advocate for the environment and the first elected Latina member of the Hermosa Beach City Council. She was also a leader in the fight against Measure O, a ballot measure that would have allowed oil companies to drill for oil in the Santa Monica Bay.
