CLCV & LCV Action Fund Endorse Nanette Barragán for Congress
WASHINGTON, DC—The California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) and League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, announced today their endorsement of Nanette Barragán for Congress (CA-44). Barragán has been a long-time advocate for the protection of our air, water and precious natural landscapes.
“Barragán was a strong environmental champion on the city council, and we are confident that she will continue this same leadership in Congress,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “She will fight to safeguard the air, lands and water that we all rely on. She constantly puts her constituents ahead of Big Oil because she understands that we have an obligation to leave our children and grandchildren a clean and healthy planet.”
As a city councilwoman, Barragán actively worked to safeguard the air we breathe and the water we drink. She stood up to Big Oil by opposing oil drilling off Hermosa Beach, and helped successfully lead an effort to defeat a ballot measure to drill in the Santa Monica Bay. Barragán also worked hard to ban plastic bags, which have many negative environmental impacts including threats to marine wildlife.

Barragán knows the common-sense steps we need to take to protect the planet for future generations. In Congress, Barragán will continue to be a leader on environmental issues, including critical environmental justice issues that are particularly important for the communities of the 44th District, which are among the most at-risk for pollution in the state. Barragán strongly supports the reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which helps to fund National Parks, urban parks, ball fields and open spaces treasured by the 44th district.
Barragán is featured on LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen website, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions for federal office.

WASHINGTON, DC—La Liga de Votantes por la Conservación del Medio Ambiente de California (CLCV, por sus siglas en inglés) y el Fondo de Acción de la Liga de Votantes por la Conservación del Medio Ambiente (LCV, por sus siglas en inglés), anunciaron el día de hoy su apoyo a Nannette Barragán par el Congreso (CA-44). Barragán ha abogado durante mucho tiempo por la protección de nuestro aire, agua y preciosos paisajes naturales.
“Barragán fue una fuerte campeona ambientalista en el consejo de la ciudad, y estamos seguros de que continuará el mismo liderazgo en el Congreso,” dijo el Presidente del Fondo de Acción de la LCV, Gene Karpinski. “Ella luchará para proteger el aire, las tierras y el agua de las cuales todos nosotros dependemos. Constantemente pone a sus constituyentes por encima de las grandes compañías petroleras porque comprende que tenemos una obligación de dejar a nuestros hijos y nietos un planeta limpio y saludable.”
Como concejal de la ciudad, Barragán trabajó de manera activa para proteger el aire que respiramos y el agua que bebemos. Se enfrentó a las grandes companias petroleras al oponerse a la perforación de pozos petroleros en Hermosa Beach, y ayudó exitosamente a liderar un esfuerzo para derrotar una medida electoral para perforar en la Bahía de Santa Mónica. Barragán también trabajó arduamente para prohibir las bolsas de plástico, las cuales tienen efectos negativos en el medio ambiente incluyendo amenazas a la vida marina silvestre.

En el Congreso, Barragán continuará siendo una líder en los temas ambientales que son particularmente importantes para las comunidades del Distrito 44, que se encuentran entre los que están bajo el mayor riesgo de contaminación en el estado. Barragán apoya fuertemente la reautorización del Fondo de Conservación de la Tierra y Agua, la cual ayuda a financiar los Parques Nacionales, parques urbanos, campos de pelota y espacios abiertos que son atesorados por el distrito 44.
Barragán aparece en la página web GiveGreen del Fondo de Acción de la LCV, la única página de internet dedicada exclusivamente a recaudar fondos para campeones ambientalistas postulados a puestos federales.
